Andrew KyteAndrew has been a full-time blacksmith for over 12 years. He honed his skills in blacksmithing, silversmithing, and modern fabrication through many years of on-the-job experience with internationally recognized master craftsmen in the U.S. and Europe.
He worked for several years in San Francisco with Michael Bondi, one of the original blacksmiths responsible for the resurgence of this trade in the U.S. In this capacity, he learned to manipulate a variety of metals and gained a true appreciation for the history and tradition of the craft. In turn he has also worked for Ferra Designs in New York City, which focuses on ultra-modern, precision fabrication with tight tolerances and exquisite finishing.
Andrew has executed pieces for the National Cathedral and Catholic University in Washington D.C. as well as for a number of well known clientele.
But the experience that most influenced his aesthetic and understanding of his craft was his apprenticeship in Germany for Atelier Zimmermann, a father-son team of master blacksmiths with over 50 years of experience.
